The Canadian B-Boy, Wizard, won the gold medal in the men’s breaking event at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Saturday, 10 August. He defeated Dany Dann of France with a score of 3-0, bringing the dance sports competition to a close after two days.
Wizard has previously won the world and continental championships in breaking, and his victory over the home crowd favorite at La Concorde for the Olympic title completes his collection. With breaking off the schedule for LA 2028, Wizard - whose real name is Philip Kim - is now in some exclusive company.
Phil Wizard joins Japanese b-girl Ami as one of the first and, to date, only gold medalists in Olympic breakdance. All in all, breakdance made its Olympic debut with a bang, with memes and truly incredible performances. Breakdancers, family members, and fans around the world can be proud knowing that these 33 men and women have represented this culture in the best possible way on the biggest platform yet.
